I Hate being sick.

At home sick today. I guess that means i can post a couple pics, and drink a couple cups of tea. Not too happy about it though. Dont have any juice. Or soup. Or movies. I may have to trek through the frozen tundra to fetch things. It's 7 out.
Hmm obviously i dont have anything intelligent to say today.

january-ness.

december went by, and so has half of january. i didn't post for a long time, let's not harp on it, it was laziness, a bit of depression, and the absolute darkest time of my life, in a literal sense, it's dark here. the sun didn't come up. things happen gradually, but it feels like suddenly they change. december 21st, the shortest day of the year we had 5 hours, 20 minutes of "sunlight" more like dusk. and now a month later we're back up to 6 hours, 51 minutes. In two weeks, 8 hours 14 minutes. We're on the upside. Again, literally. Alright, so all the is time i haven't just been obsessing over sunlight, although admittedly, it has been about 40% of my time. we got 26 inches of fresh snow overnight for christmas, we that was crazy. we had a beautiful sunset saturday afternoon, viewed from the trail at aleyska, looking out over the frozen water of the inlet and past the mountains on the other side. i've been really busy at work, getting a chance to do things i've never done before, and even getting a bit of creative freedom. met all of brendan's friends - they're all crazy - crazy in that way where you laugh and it makes your stomach hurt, and crazy like they have funny facial hair, and they're welcoming.
let's link.
- this is more the direction i'd like to go. eco-friendly field book.

- this is an incredible band i stumbled over using pandora, which is excellent for office use. all i need are headphones and i'm set for hours. gotye I recommend "hearts's a mess" - naturally.
- and lastly a new friend of mine here recommended listening to "this american life" hosted by ira glass, a chicago public radio show. all the episodes are online, and he's also just put out a new book featuring the new "kings of nonfiction" that has a great looking cover. he's a fantastic story teller, and features other great personalities. This American Life this
links to the episode Fiasco! - an exploration of things going incredibly wrong, and not just wrong, what takes them from a simple failure to an utter fiasco. So funny.

now let's look.
