Serious lack of pumpkin pie.

Happy thanksgiving, blah blah blah. My whole entire family is together at my mom's house today in Maine and it's actually kind of sad for me and I miss everyone. It's funny the relationships families have. You take all these people, some who choose to be with one another, husbands and wives, and then others who just got put in the same car on life's road, sisters, brothers, cousins. And then they're all bound to eachother from time they get the muck wiped off of them at birth to the time they get covered back in muck at death. And they share all these experiences. But remain individual and spread out all over, and on days like today they come back together... eat grammies three section rolls, do the turkey dance, and remember how they came about living the life they're living. Grammy will say grace, and hopefully they go around the table and say thanks for things, and remember the people who have sat that table in past who can no longer be there. Tonight my grandmother will announce she's going to be a great grandmother, and jen can show everyone the ultrasound of little alien baby ralph. And then little Alien Ralph will be thrown into the car with the rest of us, being the first in a whole new generation of people who gather around tables, scrape plates and take the dessert orders. Ahhhh. Sometimes I really do love this life. But I really hope the name Ralph doesn't stick.
So to honor this family holiday, I'm giving thanks to them and keeping them in mind for my photo choices today.

45" new snow, conditions: wet.

so yea, 45 new inches at alyeska, but thanks to some warm weather... warm as in 40s... that potential powder stash turned into spring cement. thanks global warming.
i did get a camera. but ive taken like 6 pictures. no worries though, i took a self pic, obvi.

working at the nerland agency. it's rad. i feel like a real live adult person now. except without a car and without a place to live. so yea, i'm getting close to real live person status.

i don't want to write, so i'll just post a pic of a bar, and one of myself, duh.

to explain:

"The only thing more unthinkable than leaving was staying; the only thing more impossible than staying was leaving. I didn't want to destroy anything or anybody. I just wanted to slip quietly out the back door, without causing any fuss or consequences, and then not stop running until I reached Greenland."
- elizabeth gilbert

oh yea, and I guess I should mention that issue 11 of N'East is out.. though as far as I'm concerned that's just a rumor until they send me some copies. Here's a screen shot from the website about the guest editors, and the beginning of my silly little blurb about Ross Powers.

40% gray

The forecast for today has a sun on it. Maybe that's some kind of Alaskan joke I don't get.

Reading Eat, Pray, Love - Because Oprah said I should. And god damn it, I hate to admit it, but she's right. It's so good! i stayed up past 10pm - that's how good it was.
I also credit my increased energy and positivity about... whatever to spending 15-30 minutes with this fine beast
http://www.apollolight.com/light_therapy_education.html Light therapy is actually working (I think and wish and pray.)

I got a new camera and it should get here in about a week.
Let's kick it old school today.

hmm....

So I'm in AK by my lonesome now... Interviewing isn't really that fun. And I'm not sure where to look for housing since I'm interviewing in different towns... and then how does one buy a car really, because I may be doing graphic or i may be serving beers. Those two people drive different cars.
Brendan got one of those light boxes before he headed down south. I've been using it in the morning but i don't really know if it helps at all. It sort of tenses up the side of my head behind my eye. Weird. So I'm going to be getting a camera up here pretty quick which should help some things out.
here's some shit that's cool.

Think Thank

I've started meeting some photographers so I can do some writing soon hopefully. Still trying to find East Clast transplants, which is a little slower going. Logging a lot of time in coffee shops.
Trying to keep my mind in it's right place.
Snowing.

Now I'm in Alaska.

Ok, so i moved! At last! But not to utah like i thought, instead to alaska. I've been here for three days not, and i'm not disapointed at all. This week I'll figure out the job thing, and hopefully the living thing. Just gonig along though. Three days and already three days riding at least for an hour or two. I hope that I'll convince at least one person to come up and visit, but i guess i won't be that surprised if no one does. Maybe if i keep putting up posts and photos it'll convince you people to get away from your humdrum and get some adrenaline in those viens.
here are some photos to get you motivated. this is the first three days, mind you.
